In the field of industrial automation, ball splines and ball screws are both linear motion accessories. Due to the similarity in appearance between these two types of products, users often confuse ball splines and ball screws. But in reality, ball splines and ball screws are completely different.
Firstly, from the perspective of the role played by ball splines and ball screws, the main function of ball screws is to convert rotational motion into linear motion. But the ball spline is different. As a new type of linear motion system, it is mainly used for axial connection of rotating shafts, and there can be some axial movement between the two shafts connected by the ball spline.
Secondly, there are significant differences in the working principles and characteristics between ball splines and ball screws. When the ball spline is in operation, there is no relative rotation between the internal ball spline shaft and the ball spline sleeve, and only torque transmission can be achieved. On the contrary, during the motion of a ball screw, there is a certain relative rotation phenomenon between the screw and the nut, and the transmitted force during the motion of the ball screw is not torque, but axial force.
In addition, ball splines and ball screws have different mechanical structures. The overall structure of the ball spline is relatively compact, which endows the ball spline series products with strong load-bearing capacity and adaptability to heavy loads, strong impacts, high speeds and other working conditions.
