1. Key connection installation
Flat key connection: This is a common way. Process key slots on the spline shaft and its mating components, and insert flat keys into the key slots to achieve circumferential fixation of the ball spline for torque transmission. Flat key connections have the advantages of simple structure and easy assembly and disassembly, and are widely used in various ordinary mechanical transmissions.
Spline connection: using multiple key teeth on the spline shaft and spline sleeve to mesh with each other to transmit torque and achieve axial fixation. Compared to flat key connections, spline connections have higher load-bearing capacity and better centering accuracy, making them suitable for transmitting large torque and requiring high centering accuracy in applications such as ball spline installation in machine tools, automotive transmissions, and other equipment.
2. Flange type connection installation
Ordinary flange connection: By setting flanges at the ends of the spline shaft and mating components, and then using bolts to fasten the flanges of the two together, the axial and circumferential fixation of the ball spline is achieved. This connection method has high connection strength and rigidity, and can withstand large axial forces and torques, but requires high processing and assembly accuracy for the flange.
Positioning flange connection: Positioning elements such as positioning pins or keys are set on the flange. During installation, the positioning elements are matched with corresponding positioning holes or keyways on the matching parts, further improving the centering accuracy and axial positioning accuracy of the connection, ensuring the accurate installation position of the ball spline in the equipment. It is commonly used in precision equipment that requires extremely high positioning accuracy.
3. Interference fit installation
Direct interference fit: Press or heat fit the spline shaft of the ball spline directly into the fitting hole of the equipment with a certain amount of interference fit, so as to form a tight fit between the spline shaft and the hole wall, thereby achieving fixation. This installation method can make the connection between the ball spline and equipment components more secure, effectively transmitting larger torque and axial force. However, the installation process is relatively complex, and strict requirements are placed on the machining accuracy and roughness of the mating surface. It is commonly used in situations where other connection methods are not convenient to use and where high connection strength and reliability are required.
Transition fit and fixing elements: First, use transition fit to install the ball spline onto the equipment components, so that it can ensure relative position to a certain extent. Then, by adding fixing elements such as tightening screws and pins, further limit the axial and circumferential displacement of the spline shaft, thus achieving a reliable installation effect. This method combines the convenience of transitional fitting installation with the reliability of fixed components, making it easy to install and adjust while ensuring the stability of the connection. It is suitable for ball spline installations that require certain position adjustments during the installation process.
4. Bolt tightening installation-
Direct bolt fastening: Set bolt holes on the spline sleeve or other fixed components of the ball spline, and directly fasten it to the installation seat or other supporting structure of the equipment through bolts to achieve the fixation of the ball spline. This method is simple, direct, easy to install and disassemble, and is commonly used in devices that do not require high installation space, have small loads, and do not have particularly strict requirements for connection accuracy.
Eccentric bolt fastening: Use eccentric bolts to fasten ball splines. The head of an eccentric bolt has an eccentric shape. When tightening the bolt, the axial and radial forces generated by the eccentric structure can be used to more tightly fix the spline shaft or spline sleeve to the equipment. At the same time, the installation position of the ball spline can be adjusted to some extent to compensate for errors in equipment manufacturing and installation, improve installation accuracy, and are commonly used in equipment that requires high installation accuracy and certain requirements for position adjustment.
5. Other installation methods
Welding installation: For some special equipment structures or requirements, welding can be used to connect and fix the components of the ball spline to the equipment body. This method can provide extremely high connection strength, but it is difficult to disassemble and adjust after welding, and has strict requirements for welding process and quality control. It is generally only suitable for permanent fixation of ball splines during equipment manufacturing. Adhesive installation: Use adhesive to bond the components of the ball spline onto the installation position of the equipment.
Adhesive installation has good shock absorption and sealing properties, which can effectively reduce the propagation of vibration and noise. However, the performance and bonding process of the adhesive have a significant impact on the installation quality, and the disassembly after bonding is difficult. It is usually used in equipment with special requirements for shock absorption and sealing and low load.
