1. Advantages of high-precision level
Reduce wear rate: - High precision ball spline with high dimensional accuracy of spline shaft and spline sleeve, such as precise control of parameters such as the shape, size, and surface roughness of flower key teeth. This makes the contact between the ball and the spline shaft and spline sleeve more uniform during the rolling process, and the force distribution is reasonable. The ball can roll on an ideal track, reducing local stress concentration and thus lowering the wear rate of the contact surface between the ball and the spline. -Taking precision grinding machines as an example, the precision level of their rolling ball flower keys is relatively high. During normal operation, the wear between the ball and the spline is very small, which can maintain good motion accuracy for a long time and effectively extend the service life.
Reduce vibration and noise: High precision grade ball splines can provide smoother motion. Due to its high manufacturing accuracy, the clearance between the spline shaft and spline sleeve is more reasonable during rotation or linear motion, and the rolling of the ball is smoother. This can effectively reduce vibration and noise during equipment operation. -For example, in high-precision automation equipment or robot joints, the use of high-precision ball splines can ensure smooth motion. Reducing vibration means reducing the additional impact force caused by vibration on the ball spline, thereby extending its service life.
Improving the effective utilization of load-bearing capacity: High precision ball splines can better utilize their load-bearing capacity. Because with precise coordination, the balls can evenly distribute the load, whether it is radial load, axial load, or torque load, they can be more reasonably distributed on each ball. -For example, in high-speed rotating mechanical transmission devices, high-precision ball splines can ensure safe operation within the rated load capacity range, avoiding partial ball overload caused by insufficient accuracy, thereby extending the service life of the entire ball spline assembly.
2. Disadvantages of low precision levels
Accelerated wear and fatigue: - Low precision ball splines have significant dimensional deviations in the spline shaft and spline sleeve, and surface roughness may not meet standards. This will result in uneven force on the balls during rolling, with some balls bearing excessive pressure. -For example, in some simple machines with low precision requirements, due to the low precision of ball splines, the balls may experience local overload. This uneven force can accelerate the wear of the contact surface between the ball and the spline, and may also cause fatigue cracks in the ball, thereby shortening the service life of the ball spline.
Generate vibration and impact loads: Low precision ball splines are prone to vibration during motion. Due to the imprecise fit between the spline shaft and spline sleeve, radial or axial runout may occur during movement, which can generate vibration and impact loads. -For example, in the feed system of a machine tool, if the accuracy of the ball spline is not sufficient, the tool wear will increase due to vibration and impact during the cutting process, and the ball and spline surfaces of the ball spline itself will also be damaged, resulting in a reduced service life.
Reduced load-bearing capacity and reliability: Low precision levels can affect the load-bearing capacity of ball splines. Due to uneven force distribution, when subjected to a certain load, there may be a situation where local ball or spline surfaces reach the bearing limit first, resulting in the failure of the entire ball spline. -For example, in lifting equipment, low precision ball splines may not be able to effectively transmit torque and withstand axial loads, making them prone to failure during use and shortening their service life in practical applications.
