1. In terms of dimensional accuracy
Axis diameter and aperture accuracy: The axis diameter and aperture of the ball spline are critical dimensions. The dimensional tolerances of the shaft diameter and hole diameter of high-precision grade ball splines are controlled within a very small range. For example, for precision grade ball splines, the shaft diameter tolerance may be within ± 0.005mm, and the aperture tolerance is similar. Precision measuring tools such as micrometers can be used to measure shaft diameter and aperture, and then compared with the standard tolerance range in the product specification to determine whether it meets high-precision requirements. -At the same time, it is necessary to check the consistency of the dimensions. The dimensions should be uniform and consistent throughout the entire length of the shaft or the entire circumference of the sleeve. If there is a significant dimensional deviation, it indicates a low level of accuracy.
Key tooth size accuracy: The size accuracy of spline teeth includes parameters such as tooth thickness and tooth width. The high-precision ball spline tooth thickness tolerance can reach within ± 0.01mm. Use tools such as tooth thickness calipers to measure tooth thickness and check if it is within the specified tolerance range. -In addition, the accuracy of tooth profile is also very important. For example, the tooth profile error of a ball spline with involute tooth profile should meet the corresponding accuracy standards. The tooth profile accuracy can be detected through equipment such as tooth profile templates or coordinate measuring instruments. Accurate tooth profile can ensure good contact between the ball and spline teeth, which is an important manifestation of high precision level. two In terms of form and position accuracy
Straightness and cylindricity: For ball spline shafts, straightness is an important indicator of positional accuracy. The straightness of high-precision spline shafts can reach within 0.002mm/m. A straightness measuring instrument can be used to detect the straightness of the axis. Cylindricity is important for both spline shafts and spline sleeves, as it reflects the accuracy of the cylindrical shape of the shaft or sleeve. The high-precision level of cylindricity tolerance can be controlled within 0.003mm and measured using roundness instruments and other equipment. -Good straightness and cylindricity can ensure smooth rolling of the ball between the spline shaft and spline sleeve, reducing vibration and wear. If the straightness or cylindricity does not meet the requirements, the ball spline will experience deviation during movement, affecting its accuracy level and service life.
Bounce accuracy: including radial and axial runout. Radial runout accuracy is particularly important during the rotational motion of ball splines. The high-precision ball spline radial runout can be controlled within 0.01mm. Using tools such as a dial gauge, place the gauge head in contact with the surface of the spline shaft or spline sleeve, and rotate it once to measure radial runout. Axial jumping is also of great significance for transmitting axial loads and ensuring motion accuracy, and its accuracy requirements depend on specific applications and accuracy levels.
2. In terms of surface roughness: The roughness of the shaft, sleeve surface, and key tooth surface of the ball spline directly affects the rolling performance of the ball. The surface roughness Ra value of high-precision ball spline is usually between 0.2 μ m and 0.8 μ m. A surface roughness meter can be used to measure surface roughness. -A smooth surface can reduce the friction coefficient between the ball and the spline, and lower wear. If the surface roughness does not meet the requirements, such as a high Ra value, it will cause the rolling of the ball to be not smooth, resulting in vibration and noise, and will also accelerate wear, indicating a lower accuracy level.
4. In terms of motion accuracy
Repetitive positioning accuracy: During the linear or rotational motion of the ball spline, the repeatability accuracy is a key indicator for measuring the accuracy level. For high-precision ball splines, the linear motion repeatability accuracy can reach within ± 0.005mm, and the rotational motion repeatability accuracy can reach within ± 0.01 °. -By using high-precision measuring equipment such as laser interferometers, the positioning error of the spline is measured during multiple repeated movements to determine whether its repeated positioning accuracy meets the requirements of high-level accuracy.
Stability of Motion: Observing the smoothness of the ball spline during motion can also determine its accuracy level. High precision ball splines should move smoothly, without any jamming or significant vibration. The vibration during the movement can be detected by tactile sensation or by using vibration sensors during device operation. If there is obvious vibration or jamming, it indicates that the accuracy level of the ball spline may be lower.
