1. Basic installation issues
Poor flatness of the installation base: If the base plane of the ball spline is not flat, it will cause the parallelism of the spline to exceed the standard after installation. For example, the base did not meet sufficient flatness requirements during the processing, resulting in protrusions or indentations. When the spline is installed on such a base, even if the accuracy of the spline itself is qualified, it is difficult to ensure parallelism. In this case, the flatness error of the base may reach 0.05mm or even greater, causing the parallelism of the spline installation to exceed the standard range.
Unstable installation of the base: - Loose or deformed installation of the base during equipment operation can also cause excessive parallelism of the ball spline. For example, in a highly vibrating working environment, if the fixing screws of the base are not tightened or the support structure of the base has insufficient strength, the base will experience displacement or deformation, which will affect the parallelism of the splines.
2. Installation process errors
Improper use of installation tools: - Insufficient accuracy or inappropriate installation tools are one of the reasons for excessive parallelism. For example, during the installation process, high-precision measuring tools (such as micrometers) are not used for parallelism measurement and adjustment, but only judged by the naked eye or ordinary calipers, making it difficult to ensure installation accuracy. Or when using a press to install splines, uneven pressure can cause the spline shaft to tilt during installation, resulting in a deviation in parallelism.
Installation personnel operation errors: - Installation personnel may make some mistakes during the operation process, such as not accurately fitting the spline with the reference surface when placing it, or not adjusting the position according to the correct method. For example, if the screws are not tightened evenly in diagonal order when adjusting, but are tightened unilaterally, it will cause the splines to twist, resulting in a parallelism that does not meet the requirements.
3. Defects in the components themselves
Insufficient accuracy of spline shaft or spline sleeve: The manufacturing accuracy of spline shaft and spline sleeve has a direct impact on the installation parallelism. If the straightness of the spline shaft itself is poor, such as a straightness error exceeding 0.02mm/m, it is difficult to ensure parallelism with the reference plane during installation. Similarly, poor cylindricity of the inner diameter of the spline sleeve can also cause parallelism issues with the spline shaft after installation.
Unreasonable fit clearance: If the fit clearance between the spline shaft and spline sleeve is not designed or processed properly, it can also affect parallelism. When the gap is too large, the spline shaft may shake inside the spline sleeve, making it difficult to control the parallelism; If the gap is too small, the installation process may be hindered, and even the spline shaft may deform after forced installation, resulting in excessive parallelism.
