As is well known, in order to ensure the quality of a product, it must be inspected, and the same goes for ball splines. As a representative product of precision parts, its quality inspection is also very strict. Next, let Han Yi tell you how to check whether the ball spline is qualified!
1. Appearance quality inspection of ball spline: Check that the surface of the ball spline shaft and spline nut is free of bumps, scratches, rust, pits, protrusions, burrs, and other adverse conditions. At the same time, check whether the ball spline model, number and direction of spline sleeves, ball size, preloading level, and lubricating grease added are consistent with the drawings;
2. Ball spline simulation motion inspection: Fix the ball spline on the rack and manually move the ball spline nut back and forth on the ball spline shaft (if rotating the spline, check the rotation of the spline nut). If the movement (rotation) is smooth without resistance or abnormal noise, and the shaking between the spline nut and the spline shaft is small during movement (rotation), it is judged to be qualified;
3. Machining inspection of ball spline shaft end and nut, spline shaft (hollow or solid), spline shaft end shape, stop ring groove, flat position, chamfer, internal and external threads, hole position, spline nut size and tolerance inspection (if it is a rotating screw, the screw lead should also be inspected);
4. Check the surface treatment of ball splines for blackening, chrome plating, black chrome plating, and nickel plating, while paying attention to the thickness of the coating;
5. Ball spline heat treatment inspection shall be carried out according to the technical requirements of the drawing, measuring the effective length, quenching range, and surface Rockwell hardness (generally between HRC58-65) of the ball spline part. It is recommended to attach the surface quenching treatment report and hardness inspection report of the parts with the product;
6. Check the positional relationship between the ball spline and the spline shaft end shape to see if the keyway, hole position, and flange installation hole position of the ball spline are consistent with the drawing;
7. Special tools are used to inspect the straightness, parallelism, perpendicularity, coaxiality, and circular runout of ball splines for form and position tolerances, and to ensure consistency with the drawing markings and ball spline accuracy levels;
8. Inspection of groove for ball spline transmission. Visually measure the number of grooves in the ball spline transmission, measure the width of the transmission groove with a vernier caliper or a through gauge and a stop gauge, measure the vertical height from the bottom of the groove to the outer diameter of the shaft with a micrometer to determine the depth of the transmission groove and whether it is consistent with the size of the ball;
9. If necessary, conduct material inspection (metallographic analysis, chemical analysis) on the ball spline to determine whether it is consistent with the material on the drawing;
10. If necessary, conduct fatigue tests on the ball spline to verify that its service life is consistent with the manufacturer's technical requirements;
11. Special requirements in the design drawings should also be included in the inspection content.
